The Next Generation of Rivalries

To say the basketball fans around the world are excited for the NBA finals this year is an understatement. I wouldn’t say anyone is really surprised with this final matchup, seeing as it was almost a unanimous pick as to who would come out of each conference.  These are two young teams, both with three stars, both who fast-break better then any other team in the entire world. Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade could almost be considered others in this series because what we’re really going to be focusing on is the matchup of James vs Durant. Sure they’re friends, and they work out together over the summer and all but when the Finals come around all of that can be forgotten. The three time MVP vs the three time scoring champion. The best player in the NBA vs the #2 player in the NBA. This is going to be crazy. No more veteran teams with slowly declining stars, no more lone superstars with the “right supporting players” What we have here is a series stacked with superstars all in their prime and besides Wade all of them fighting for their first ring. Personally, I can’t wait for this series and think it will go down the very last second where either Durant or Lebron will be tested with the clutch moment that defines the rest of their careers. Of course I’m just imagining the hollywood moment that everybody would like, this will probably go to 7 games nonetheless. And despite it being so close, I think the Thunder will come out on top. Why? Well, that’s for another time. For now, let’s just get hyped for the NBA Finals that begin on Tuesday.
